Program Statement

At MRC, our aim is to enhance the growth of a child as an individual. We foster the social, emotional, physical and intellectual growth of the child. 

We promote individual freedom within a structured framework. This provides the child with the opportunity to make choices, to respect themselves and the rights of others and to understand that their input into decision making is valued and respected. We encourage the children to interact and communicate in a positive way and support their ability to self-regulate. 

We maintain a warm home based, relaxing, family-oriented atmosphere where children feel secure, happy and loved. We plan to create positive learning environments and experiences through our program, which stimulates and intrigues children, encouraging their natural curiosity and desire for learning through the methods of “How Does Learning Happen? Ontario’s Pedagogy for the Early Years”. 

We always strive to take the family’s diverse needs into consideration. Foster the engagement of, and ongoing, communication with parents about the program and their children. We promote anti-biased behaviour in all aspects of our program. The Children are encouraged to participate in all activities equally. We focus on child-initiated and adult-supported experiences. 

Our program incorporates indoor and outdoor play, as well as active play, rest and quiet time, into the day and give consideration to the individual needs of the children receiving child care. 

We promote the health, safety and well-being of all children. As well as abiding by the Canadian food guide in providing nutritious meals for the children’s overall growth and wellness. 

Prohibited Practices forbids physical punishment and other harmful disciplinary practices to protect the emotional and physical well-being of children. These practices are never permitted in a child care centre. 

Measures are taken to monitor compliance and contravention to assist the employees, volunteers or students to understand the requirement and provide opportunity for improvement. 

MRC supports children as being competent, capable, curious and rich in potential.
